At Hostmate, we are constantly investing in our infrastructure to ensure your websites, email and online businesses have the performance, security and reliability they need.

In light of recent hardware and DoS related issues, we are pleased to announce that we are migrating our shared hosting ecosystem to a brand-new, enterprise-grade cloud architecture hosted within the Micron21 data centre — Australia's first Tier IV data centre, the highest available data centre tier.

We have built our own private virtual cloud data centre environment, designed specifically for scalability, security, Australian data sovereignty, backup protection and hardware failover redundancy.

This is a major upgrade to our core infrastructure, moving away from traditional standalone bare-metal servers to a more resilient cloud architecture.

The new platform is designed to deliver greater infrastructure redundancy, stronger network security and high-performance processing while giving us considerably more flexibility to expand hosting resources as customer requirements continue to grow.

What’s Changing Under the Hood?

True Hardware Redundancy

Previously, your hosting relied on a single physical dedicated server. In our new cloud environment, hosting resources are provided by a redundant cloud infrastructure rather than being dependent on one physical server.

If an underlying physical component encounters an issue, resources can automatically shift within the cloud infrastructure without your hosting environment being tied to the failed hardware.

This removes the traditional single physical server as a hardware single point of failure.

Always-On DDoS Network Protection

We are implementing Micron21's enterprise-grade, always-on network-edge DDoS protection for Layer 3 and Layer 4 attacks directly at the network level.

Malicious network traffic can be detected and filtered upstream before it reaches our hosting infrastructure, providing significantly stronger protection against network-based denial-of-service attacks.

Next-Generation Processing and Storage

Your hosting will be powered by Intel® Xeon® Gold processors, combined with high-performance distributed NVMe storage infrastructure.

This provides a powerful platform for WordPress, databases, email and other demanding web applications.

Our Premium Software Stack Remains

You will continue using the same familiar cPanel hosting environment, backed by our premium hosting and security stack, including:

• LiteSpeed Web Server and LiteSpeed Cache
• CloudLinux resource isolation
• Imunify360 server and website security
• JetBackup backup and recovery
• Addition of Acronis backup protection at the cPanel account level

The new infrastructure strengthens the platform underneath these services while allowing us to retain the hosting environment our customers already know.

More Hosting Plan Resources

As part of the upgrade, our two lower-tier hosting plans will receive increased CPU and RAM resources.

We are also increasing I/O read/write performance across all hosting plans and will be introducing two larger plans for customers requiring significantly more resources.

When Is This Happening and What Do I Need to Do?

We began migrations last week.

Our engineering team is migrating accounts in structured batches over the coming months to ensure each migration can be carefully managed and verified.

Downtime: No downtime is expected during the migration process.

If your domain is registered with Hostmate: No action is required on your part. We will manage the necessary DNS changes for you.

If you manage your DNS externally: If your DNS is managed through a third party such as Cloudflare or another registrar/provider and your migration requires a nameserver, DNS record, or static IP address change, our support team will contact you directly with the required information before your account is migrated.

An Important Note About Upcoming Hosting Plan Pricing

Moving to this level of enterprise cloud infrastructure represents a substantial investment in the future of our hosting platform.

The transition to Micron21's cloud infrastructure, always-on network DDoS protection, additional backup systems, increased hosting resources and continually increasing licensing costs for our premium software stack mean that hosting plan prices will increase in the coming months.

We are providing advance notice now so that the change does not come as a surprise.

A separate notification will be sent before the new pricing takes effect, detailing the changes applicable to each hosting plan.

Why We’re Making These Changes

The requirements of website and email hosting have changed considerably in recent years.

AI crawlers, automated bots, security threats and increasingly sophisticated websites are consuming more server and network resources. WordPress plugins and applications continue to become more resource-intensive, while customers increasingly require additional processing power, memory, storage and backup protection.

We are also beginning to host a new generation of AI-developed websites, including both static websites and increasingly complex WordPress sites.

Customers now expect considerably more from their website and email hosting than they did only a few years ago.

Moving to a scalable cloud environment gives us the infrastructure we need to meet those requirements securely and reliably into the future, while allowing us to continue expanding the resources and services available to our customers.
